🔧Work Performed
Arrived on site and was unable to locate the designated suite. I contacted the customer to advise them of my arrival and informed them that I could not find the suite number. I requested assistance, and the point of contact (POC) stated that two of his associates were on their way to meet me. Upon their arrival, they escorted me to the lower garage where the table was stored.
I began by restoring power to the table and observed that the unit was partially disassembled. The customer, a biomedical company, had previously attempted repairs. They advised that they had replaced the main PCB three times, as they believed the board was the source of the issue. The boards had been supplied by Midmark. Additionally, they had purchased a back actuator from eBay and installed it themselves. After continued issues, they contacted Midmark to request on-site service.
During troubleshooting, I discovered that the back-up limit switch had been crushed. I removed the back actuator and bracket to access the damaged switch. I located a replacement back limit switch in my trunk stock, installed it, and reinstalled the back actuator. While reattaching the back seat section, I discovered that the customer had misplaced the C-clip that secures the retaining pin.
While attempting to calibrate the chair, the calibration repeatedly failed. Further troubleshooting revealed that the back-down limit switch was also malfunctioning. I replaced the back-down limit switch and successfully calibrated and function-tested the table. The table was operating properly; however, I informed the customer that a replacement C-clip was required to properly secure the pin connecting the back and actuator. I advised them that operating the table without the C-clip would be unsafe.
I reinstalled all shrouds and previously removed components. Both the site contact and the customer verified proper functionality. I again offered to order a replacement C-clip, but they stated they were unable to authorize that decision at the time. I left the unit operational and reiterated that the table should not be used until the C-clip is installed to secure the pin properly.
